Like other anime, Citrus was first a manga series before it was made into a movie. An anime version of the popular Yuri series was finally made in January 2018. The series began serialization in 2012. There’s still a lot of material for a follow-up season, but it’s been three years and nothing has changed. Is Citrus season 2 still going on? We’ll find out.
Is There Going To Be Citrus Season 2 Or Not?
Sad news for Citrus fans: Studio Passione has not yet decided whether or not to make a second season of the show.
A lot of people love the Yuri series, but the anime adaptation didn’t get very good reviews from IMDB and MyanimeList.
Thus, this might make the studio think twice about making a second season of the same show.
This isn’t the first time that Studio Passione has made only one-season anime shows, so it wouldn’t be a surprise if they did the same with Citrus, either.
It’s true, but fans should not give up yet. As long as there are enough people who want the studio to change their minds, they can!
If Studio Passione doesn’t want to make any more seasons of Citrus, other studios can also make the show.
As long as there is enough demand from fans, there’s always the chance that something could happen.
Enough Material Source To Make Citrus Season 2
So, there is a chance that season two will pick up where season one left off, with the fourth manga book.
In total, the manga has ten volumes. There are six more volumes left for us to look at. Citrus’s original manga series came to an end in October 2018. There is now another possible source material for the beloved Japanese Yuri.
Manga artist Saburouta has made a spin-off manga series called Citrus Plus, which came out in November 2019. Was a huge hit! As long as there are a lot of source materials, fans hope that the anime adaptation will have a second season at some point.
It’s also important for anime fans to keep in mind that many adaptations are made to bring more people and sales to their source material. While it can be a good way to get more people to read manga or light novels, making anime adaptations can be very expensive.
So, studios often take a lot of risks before they finally decide to release another anime season.
There are a lot of people who want you to take the risk. You can look at One-Punch Man and Full Metal Panic to get an idea of what they look like.
There Will Be A Citrus Season 2, But What Will Happen?
Citrus has an interesting if a little contentious, story. In this painting, Yuzu and Mei, two girls who fell in love while at an all-girls school, are shown. In the beginning, they thought they were just strangers but later found out that they were step-sisters, too. Yuzu and Mei have a lot of love triangles and other romantic problems in their relationship.
Mei finally told Yuzu about her real feelings at the end of season one. Yuzu’s inability, to tell the truth, made their friendship a little shaky. As Mei and Yuzu try to figure out their feelings and libido in season 2, we may see more unpleasant interactions between them.
Season 1 came to an end with the fourth volume of the source manga series, so season two could pick up where it left off in the next season. The manga series has ten volumes, giving us six more to read. Citrus’ original manga series came to an end in October of 2018. However, new sources for the famous Japanese Yuri have been found.
There is a roll manga book by manga artist Saburouta called Citrus Plus. It came out in November 2019. Citrus Plus was a huge hit! With possible source materials, fans are optimistic that a second season of the anime will be released in the future.
You can expect to see Mei and Yuzu have more awkward encounters as they try to figure out their feelings and sexuality in season 2.

Producer: The number of seasons for an anime show is set at the start of a project. Only if the first season goes above and beyond their expectations do they change their minds and start making the second season, as well.
Unfortunately, Citrus didn’t do as well as we had hoped, and it’s very likely that it won’t have another season. I might be wrong, though, because there are some anime shows that have had second and third seasons even though their first season wasn’t very good.
They usually only make one season and then move on to other projects, though. One more sign that we may not be able to get another season of Citrus could be this.
