To be clear, Cruel Summer is an extremely nasty drama, but it’s impossible to say the same about Freeform, which has already declared that Cruel Summer Season 2 is on the way even before the season one finale has aired.
Freeform President Tara Duncan stated in a statement to TVLine that the renewal was an “easy decision,” which makes sense given Cruel Summer is currently the network’s most-watched show ever… (via Deadline).
Although Bert V Royal, the creator of Cruel Summer, has officially stepped down as showrunner, there will be some changes in the future. Cruel Summer season two has left a lot of things unanswered, so tell your mother to switch off the phone and turn on the modem because we’re going to dial into the network and find out everything you need to know.
When Will Cruel Summer Season 2 Air?
There will be more episodes of Cruel Summer, according to executive producer Jessica Biel (yes, the Jessica Biel). Skyline’s second season has not been assigned an official release date, however, it is possible that we will see her again as soon as May 2022 if season two follows the same schedule.
Who’s In The Cast Of Cruel Summer Season 2?
We may expect most of the key cast to return if the tale continues in season two, including:
- Actress Olivia Holt in the role of Kate Wallis
- For the role of Jeanette Turner, Chiara Aurelia
- Jamie Henson, played by Froy Gutierre
- Mallory Higgins is played by Harley Quinn Smith.
- “Angela Prescott” portrayed by Brooklyn Sudano
- “Vince Fuller” portrayed by Allius Barnes
- Ben Hallowell is played by Nathaniel Ashton.
- Greg Turner is played by Michael Landes.
Martin Harris, who was supposed to die in the premiere but reappeared in flashbacks, is the only one in the cast who hasn’t been cast indefinitely. It is also possible that her abuser will reappear in future episodes, given Kate’s history with him.

What Will Happen In Cruel Summer Season 2?
The consequences of that twist will be felt in season two, assuming that season one ended on a cliffhanger. Is Jeanette suffering from a mental illness? Will she ever feel remorse for abandoning Kate in the basement? And what about Kate? Season two has the potential to answer a slew of new ones, not to mention the status of Kate’s romance with Mallory.
It was already shooting when Tia Napolitano came up with the last surprise, which she explained to Decider as, “I think takes it to the next level.”
The funny thing about Jeanette’s dishonesty is that technically, she never lies.” Napolitano explained. When asked about Kate Wallis, she answers, “I did not see her.”
“She didn’t [see] her at all. She was aware of what she was saying. In the context of Jeanette’s bizarreness, I find that to be a great line. Since she claims to have never seen Kate Wallis in the basement, she presumably believes she’s being truthful. “We didn’t know about that for a long time,” she continued.
Because of a misunderstanding between Kate and Jeanette about what was going on in the house while filming, she explains, “We planned out the season that we did from the beginning, from when I joined the project.” We tried to figure out how to implement it.
There was a noticeable improvement in quality as we progressed. We finished it off with a Mallory twist. While we were already filming — I believe we were filming Episode 4 — we came up with the ultimate twist, and I believe that takes it to the next level.
According to Napolitano, even the actors and crew were taken aback by the film’s finale.
Iron Ocean (Productions) producer Michelle Purple remarked on a video in which cast members were seen experiencing the final moments of the program after witnessing the latest episode.
As Sarah Drew discovered, the future was everything but predictable. As a result of my foreknowledge, they burst out in screams. I’m “really in tears” in the video because of all the nice responses.
For all we know, the second season may or may not address this topic of deceit and betrayal. Deadline’s original idea for a second season was an anthology-style anthology with a new cast and many timelines.
So someone else might take center stage in place of Chiara Aurelia and Olivia Holt. The show’s cheesy 90s appeal would be hard to replicate if we went back in time.
If the characters return, they may have a new mystery to solve. The village of Skyline could be engulfed by a wave of grief and trauma if we find out that Kate wasn’t the only victim of Martin Harris.
How Can I View Cruel Summer Season 2?
Fans of Cruel Summer will have to wait just as long for fresh footage as Kate did for her dial-up connection to work. Season two’s teaser won’t arrive until early 2022 at the earliest, and even then, we’re optimistic.
On Freeform in the United States and Amazon Prime in the United Kingdom, Cruel Summer is available.
What Happened In Cruel Summer Season 1
That someone else was peeking out of the window of Martin’s (Blake Lee) residence after all was revealed after a debate between Kate and Jeanette. As a result, it appeared as if they were both free to go. A shocking closing scene revealed that Jeanette may not have seen Kate trapped in the basement, but she did hear her screams and screams and scream.

Conclusion-
Definitely worth your time. This is a difficult film to watch at times, but if you focus on what the characters have been through and reflect on their childhood friendships, it makes sense. After watching a full episode, you’ll be able to piece together the various timelines. At the beginning of each episode, I recommend paying attention to the date. Just a few episodes in, but I’m already looking forward to the next ones.
Although I’ve noticed a few instances where the actors have gone over the top with their lines and actions, I’ve only observed this a handful of times. I’m blown away by your general acting abilities, even if I ignore the cheesiness. If you don’t mind a few cringes, this is a must-see. Another thing to keep in mind is that even though it lays everything out for you, there are still many plot holes that keep you on the edge of your seat.
