In November, Netflix users around the world can look forward to Dead To Me Season 3, an original black comedy series.
Season 3 of Dead to Me is one of 2022’s most talked-about TV shows, and viewers can’t wait to find out how the tale concludes. New episodes of the show haven’t aired in over two years, but by the end of the year, we should know how it all wraps up.
Dead to Me Season 3 Renewed Or Cancelled?
Dead to Me’s third and final season was announced by Netflix only two months after the second season began.
Dead to Me’s renewal comes as little surprise given the show’s consistent presence on Netflix’s most-watched TV shows lists. In instance, upon its initial release, it dominated the charts in the United States.
Christina Applegate, upon hearing the news that the show would be ending after its current season, rushed to social media to express her sadness, writing, “I will miss these ladies.” This, however, was the only conclusion we could think of for these ladies’ tale. For all the support, I appreciate it. When it is safe to do so, we will resume operations.
If you’re a fan who is worried that your favourite programme has been cancelled by Netflix, rest assured that the creators always planned for the series to finish before it went on for an indefinite number of seasons. In an interview, Liz Feldman stated that she hadn’t planned for it to be “a big long-running show.”
After Dead to Me ends, Liz Feldman will continue her relationship with Netflix. Since she signed an overall contract, all of the creator’s future works will be available on Netflix. The announcement of any further new initiatives has as far been delayed.
All roads have led to this.

Dead to Me Season 3 Filming Completed Or Not?
After its renewal, production on the show’s scripts began and continued for a while more before being submitted to Netflix for review.
On Twitter on September 18th, 2020, Liz Feldman announced that her third season pitch has been approved by “my partners.”
We found out in October 2020 that CBS Studios was planning to start shooting Season 3 in January 2021. Prior interviews had indicated that production wouldn’t begin until December 2020.
ProductionWeekly announced in early 2021 that shooting would begin sometime in the latter half of January. However, due to the unpredictability of the worldwide epidemic, the schedule was delayed once more.
Production was scheduled to end on August 2nd, 2021, however it didn’t start until May 10th. Christina Applegate, who plays the lead role in the film, posted a photo of a chair used during production of Dead to Me. The end of filming had been scheduled for September of 2021.
Christina Applegate, however, announced in August 2021 that she had been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. Multiple sources have told us that production “paused temporarily” around that time, and we haven’t heard any good news about the show resuming back up since.
Production had resumed in 2021, according to Deadline, but was halted again due to an outbreak of COVID-19. At the beginning of 2022, there were reportedly only three weeks of filming left, as reported by Deadline.
Diana Maria Riva announced the end of season three filming on Instagram on February 11, 2022. As a result, we assumed that production was winding down.
Filming for the final season wrapped up on April 26th, 2022, and Liz Feldman announced it on Instagram. An image of a chair bearing the Dead to Me slogan was uploaded on her Instagram.

Dead to Me Season 3 Release Date
The highly anticipated series was released on streaming services throughout the world on November 17th, just in time for a binge watching session.
In response to the news that this would be the show’s last season, star Christina Applegate expressed her sadness about her feelings for her co-stars on social media. However, we thought this was the most fitting conclusion to the tale of these ladies. I appreciate all the support from the audience. When conditions allow, we will resume operations.
Dead to Me Season 3 Plotline
No matter where Jen and Judy go, trouble seems to find them, or is it the other way around?
At the end of season two, they were in a car accident caused by a drunken Ben, who had just broken his sobriety and was driving erratically.
Judy seemed unharmed, but Jen was plainly having trouble and looked out of it towards the end. Thanks to her snarky remark at the last second, we know she’s alive, if not in great health, given that she was on the side Ben ran into.
Undoubtedly, Ben will feel awful about the whole thing, and while no one saw him before he drove off, will he prove to be more like the girls than any of them realise when the encounter erodes his moral compass to speak the truth?
We may anticipate that season three will continue in the same vein as season one, picking up with Jen and Judy in another chaotic situation and Ben desperately trying to get rid of his car and pretend he is somewhere else.
Cardellini told GoldDerby, when questioned about the show’s future, that she would offer “anything I can think of,” but that Liz would “come up with something a million times better,” as would the writers. “You think you know where they’re heading, but then they take a curve that catches you by surprise. That’s something I can’t wait to learn.”
Then there’s Steve’s corpse, which we last saw being dug up by a dog in the woods, so it probably won’t be there for long.
Based on what he sees in the mirror when no one else is there, “this guy I believe does make a conscious effort to look at himself in the mirror and do the right thing,” Marsden told TV Guide. “Yet there are moments when the forces become too much. I believe they’re starting to add up for him, and it may make for a fascinating storyline in season three, if we go that route.”
Charlie, Jen’s son, also discovered the letter his mother had written to Judy, explaining why she had turned herself in to the police. The mystery has been solved for him as well.
Feldman told Vulture in 2020 that Covid would influence the upcoming episodes: “I had a version of an end for season three that I’m rethinking, actually, because I think it’s important to pay attention to where we are collectively as a human race and be sensitive to the fact that our audience is living through this incredibly difficult moment in history.”
What we decide to investigate in Season 3 will be shaped by what we’ve learned from this year. The performance is centred around pain, grief, and loss, all of which we are experiencing right now.”
Nonetheless, we won’t see Jen and Judy donning masks and running amok: “It’s also a programme that I prefer to keep evergreen, so we’re not commenting on a specific period or place.”
I have some plans for season three, but I want them to feel natural and appropriate not only for the characters’ struggles but also for the viewers’ tolerance levels.”
Dead to Me Season 3 Netflix Updates
The second season concluded with a major cliffhanger, following in the footsteps of the first. There’s a vehicle accident involving Jen and Judy right before the credits roll, and it’s not a fluke. It’s eerily similar to the circumstances surrounding Jen’s husband’s untimely death, which brought Jen and Judy together. In the second season finale, however, viewers are left wondering if Jen is still alive following the tragedy.
Based on the first season, we can assume that Ben will once again attempt desperately to dump his car and pretend that he is somewhere else while Jen and Judy get themselves into yet another trouble. Cardellini told GoldDerby, when questioned about the show’s future, that she would offer “anything I can think of,” but that Liz would “come up with something a million times better,” as would the writers. “Even when you believe you know where they’re heading, they may surprise you by taking a turn you weren’t expecting. What I want to know now.”
Then there’s Steve’s corpse, which we last saw being dug up by a dog in the woods, so it won’t be there for long. For his part, Marsden told TV Guide that he thinks “this person makes a conscious effort to look at himself in the mirror when no one else is looking and do the right thing.” “However, there are instances when the forces become too much. Those are adding up and becoming more pressing for him, and I think it would be interesting to delve into that in season three, if we take that route.”
In addition, Jen’s son Charlie discovered the letter his mother had written to Judy, outlining the reasons she had turned herself in to the authorities. This means that he is also up to speed on the situation.

Dead to Me Season 3 Cast And Main Lead
Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini will definitely be back to play Jen and Judy again. After all, this narrative centres on the friendship between the two female protagonists. After Steve’s death, they haven’t exactly climbed out of the deep end, either (James Marsden).
James Marsden, who plays Steve in the flashbacks and Ben, Steve’s twin brother, in the present, will be back as well.
Nick, played by Brandon Scott, and Detective Perez, played by Diana-Maria Riva, are both still actively investigating the case. The children of Jen will also most likely be present.
Since Michelle (Natalie Morales) has been absent from the most recent episodes, it is unclear if this is the end of a story arc or if she will return.
In October 2022, it was confirmed that Garret Dillahunt has joined the cast of Dead to Me as a “regular guest” character, making him the most notable new cast member announced for season 3.
Other actors and actresses have also been confirmed to make their Dead to Me debut in the third season. All of these parts are quite small, yet they must be filled:
- Caylak in the role of Dr. Kaan Abaci
- Nurse Maureen is played by Staci Lynn Fletcher.
- Detective JusTina Lynn Johnson
- Lana Danielyan works as a bartender.
- Male Mourner, Goran Ivanovski
- Or is played by Ren Burttet.

Dead to Me Season 2 Recap
After Jen finds that her neighbour Karen’s surveillance camera caught Steve’s arrival at her house, she and Judy make up for a while. As a result of Jen’s dismissal, Judy is now homeless and penniless. After making amends, Jen tells Judy that she killed Steve in self-defense, while in reality she smashed his head in with a hammer as he was leaving. Steve’s twin brother Ben has shown up in search of him. Steven, Judy says to Ben, “fled to Mexico after the failure of his money-laundering enterprise.” When Jen gets a restraining order against Judy, Detective Perez calls her a “rip tide.”
As Jen freezes Steve’s body in her garage, she thinks back on their one night together. The rats arrive, and Jen and Judy argue about who gets to keep his body. A proper funeral and burial is important to Judy. Jen has second thoughts about dissolving industrial-strength drain cleaner after trying it out on a rat. At night, the two take him to the Angeles National Forest where they will bury him.
After Steve’s funeral, Jen and Judy spend the weekend in a fancy hotel. Karen’s husband, Jeff, is having an extramarital affair. When Jen and Judy get home, they learn that Henry’s reincarnated father, the bird, has passed away.
Charlie, eager for a new car, discovers Steve’s old vehicle in his mother’s storage unit. Charlie, who thinks the car is a birthday present for Parker, rides along in it. Judy becomes close with Michelle, the child of a new client. Ben eases Jen’s pain by massaging her back. During the session, Jen discusses the evening she murdered Steve. After yelling at Charlie for stealing Steve’s car, Jen sets fire to it.
Jen pays Parker to take down the images she posted online of her joyride with Charlie so that Steve may keep his car hidden. Michelle and Judy share a bed. Also, Jen had a thing for Ben. Henry is terrified of performing his first solo in front of his Christian choir. Instead of the show, Jen suggests they go to an arcade with Charlie, Judy, Ben, and Michelle to entertain Henry. Nick and the other cops investigate and discover Steve’s wrecked car. Michelle’s former girlfriend and current roommate is a police officer named Perez.
Jennifer and Judy keep an eye on Steve so they don’t get caught. Because of Jen, Judy and Michelle call it quits, and the blame goes squarely on Detective Perez’s shoulders. Judy is devastated to learn at the vigil that Steve’s fiancee Heidi is four months pregnant with his child. The price that Ben has to pay to know where Steve is at all times is high. Jennifer gives Ben a kiss thereafter. Charlie recognises Steve’s automobile in the slideshow of his life.
While Jen and Ben are selling their mansion, the subject of their kiss comes up. When Charlie goes to look at Steve’s car, he discovers a flash drive and a burner phone. When Charlie dials, Chief Hastings takes the call. While visiting Michelle’s mother in the hospital, Judy and Detective Perez have an awkward conversation. Due to her anxiety, Judy wants to locate her mother and contacts her. It appears like Michelle has dumped Judy. Ben goes to see Jen and tells her he feels the same way about her. They embrace and walk into the room.
Jen feels bad about their one-night-stand, so she asks Ben to leave. Charlie should forget about wrecking Steve’s automobile, says Jen, because Steve was with some bad people. Judy goes to visit her manipulative, drug-addicted mother in jail in an effort to aid in her release. Judy informs Jen that Nick saw Parker and Charlie in photos taken next to Steve’s burned-out automobile on Instagram, and that surveillance footage shows them driving the vehicle on the day it was destroyed.
Judy and Jen argue, and Jen says she killed Steve because he insulted her, while Judy says Ted threw himself in front of Steve’s car on purpose. Judy is insulted by Jen’s statement that she is in love with anyone who pays her any attention. Bring your hearts together. Having left envelopes for Judy, Charlie, and Henry the night before, Jen pays a visit to Detective Perez the following morning.
Jen has officially asked Judy to be the boys’ legal guardian. Jennifer tells Detective Perez that she killed Steve, and the two of them go looking for his body at the makeshift gravesite, but they don’t locate him. As a result of Nick’s communication, “We got him” (Chief Hastings), Perez decides not to report Jen. Perez does provide Judy’s artwork, though. After Perez leaves, Judy shatters the paintings, revealing several stacks of $100 bills in the backs.
A hiker and her dog allegedly discovered Steve’s body and reported it to Ben. When Judy’s mom offers to help, she turns her down. In the wake of her mother’s death, Jen attends a grief support group and has an epiphany: she never properly mourned. After purchasing Lorna’s mortgage, Judy and Jen go home in a new, little car Jen plans to give to Charlie as a gift. Ben crashes into the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. After finding a whiskey bottle just halfway full, Ben runs away. Judy and Jen come to, both bruised but still alive.
Conclusion
The acting in this programme is brilliant on a cosmic scale. I’ve been way too attached to this programme. The plot is intriguing, and the camaraderie between the main characters is among the best I’ve seen on television. I can’t even begin to put into words how I feel at this very moment. Numerous feelings. I’ve never shed more tears than I did during this programme, but the acting really helps you connect with the characters. You can literally feel their agony and other feelings through your screen.
If anyone can win my affections, it’s Linda Cardellini. We’ve never seen anything like her before. It’s a great demonstration of her acting chops. The transition from “Velma” in “Scooby Doo” to “Judy” in “Dead to Me” is enormous, and she carries it off magnificently. I stayed in bed and watched it for five hours. kept very still and didn’t even blink. Useful passage of time. I feel incredibly fortunate to have witnessed this work of art. Amazing, to say the least. Yes, please make time to see it. It’s going to be well worth it, I swear.
