At long last, we know when to expect Enola Holmes 2 on Netflix this year.
Mark your calendars for November 4th, as the streaming provider announced on August 18 that the sequel will be available on Netflix on that day. Although the first trailer is still overdue, we finally have some stills from the film.
We know that Millie Bobby Brown (Enola) and Henry Cavill (Sherlock Holmes) will return for the sequel to 2021’s Enola Holmes, and that writer Jack Thorne and director Harry Bradbeer will also be back for the film.
Before the trailer drops, let’s do some investigating and fill you in on what you need to know about Enola Holmes 2.
Enola Holmes 2 Happen Or Not?
Enola Holmes, younger sister of Sherlock and Mycroft, and her mother Eudora reside in late 1800s England in the first video. Enola’s mother taught her to be self-reliant and a critical thinker through homeschooling. When she wakes up on her 16th birthday, she finds her mother has vanished, taking with her only the birthday presents she had been expecting.
The young woman, Enola, discovers a hidden letter in her mother’s floral cards just as Sherlock and Mycroft come to take her to finish school. She quickly changes into a man’s disguise and boards a train to escape. When she boards the train, she comes face to face with Viscount Tewkesbury, who is also on the run but is blissfully unconscious of Linthorn’s presence. Tewkesbury’s life is spared thanks to Enola, who gets off the train with him. They take a flight to London and eventually split ways there.
As previously announced, the second installment of the Enola Holmes series will debut on Netflix on November 4 at 12 am PT, 3 am ET, and 8 am UK time.
Even though it’s been pushed back a little bit from the initial September release date, the countdown is on.
Production for the sequel started in October of 2021, and by the end of November, Cavill had wrapped up his work on the role. In January of 2022, Netflix announced that production on the second Enola Holmes series has wrapped.

Enola Holmes 2 Plot
Enola Holmes 2’s official synopsis and first photos have been posted by Netflix:
As the synopsis puts it, “now a detective-for-hire like her notorious brother, Enola Holmes takes on her first official case to discover a missing girl as the sparks of a hazardous plot ignite a mystery that requires the cooperation of friends — and Sherlock himself” to solve.
The plot of the second book in the Enola Holmes Mysteries series, from which the films are adapted, is very similar. The lost Lady Cecily Alistair was the focus of The Case of the Left-Handed Lady, in which Enola tried to find her while avoiding her brother Sherlock.
While we don’t expect the sequel to be a direct copy of the book, it does appear to have drawn some inspiration from it.
Brown hinted to EW that the action of the sequel would take place in “the hustle and bustle of London,” a location not shown much in the original film. The young girl’s daily activities in the midst of the city’s constant chaos were revealed.
Bradbeer continued, “I wanted this story to be a grimmer one. I aimed to familiarise her with women from working-class backgrounds. Since I wanted Enola to feel as out of her element as possible, I made it a point that this was an entirely new world for her to explore.
Similarly, the sequel may continue the story from where the original film ended off. Here is a comprehensive recap of the first film, but all we really care about is the climax.
Enola’s hunt for her mother resumes after she saves the lord, and she eventually receives a coded message in a newspaper, supposedly from her mother, telling her to meet her at the Royal Academy that evening.
To validate her suspicions that it’s all a fraud from Sherlock and Mycroft, Enola pretends to be a newspaper vendor. They leave feeling down, but not before Sherlock notices Enola’s childhood toy, a pine cone she named Dash.
Enola’s mother, Eudoria, unexpectedly returns to her room and apologises for abandoning her; Eudoria is active in the Suffragist movement, and she didn’t think it was “safe” to inform Enola where she was going.
She assures Enola that she is available whenever she may need her, and that the only way to contact her is through the use of coded messages left in the newspaper, same as previously.
In her last speech to the camera, Enola explains that she, like the rest of her family, must pursue her “own path”: “I now know that being alone doesn’t mean I have to be lonely. Mom would have never approved of that. She was eager for me to discover independence, possibility, and meaning.
What they claim about me being a detective, a decoder, and a seeker of lost souls is absolutely true. This is my life, and I get to decide how to live it. And the fate of tomorrow depends on us.
As Enola is in town, she may try to steal some of Sherlock’s cases. Will they ultimately team together in the second installment, or will they fight each other?
Enola Holmes 2 Cast
Millie Bobby Brown reprises her role as Enola Holmes, and the actress told Entertainment Weekly that the show represents the “most important moment in my career so far”
Everyone on set took me seriously and listened to what I had to say because my age and gender have never been a factor in [my employment]. She went on to say how pleasant it felt to be in that setting.
Henry Cavill will be back in his role as Sherlock Holmes, but whether Sam Claflin will reprise his role as Mycroft Holmes is still up in the air. Unless they’re trying to hide something, it’s hard to believe he’s back.
Louis Partridge will reprise his role as Tewkesbury in the upcoming season, as he announced during Netflix’s TUDUM event in September 2021. But his companions Eudoria Holmes (Helena Bonham Carter), Lestrade (Adeel Akhtar), and Edith (Susan Wokoma) will be there too.
A number of newcomers, including Sharon Duncan-Brewster, David Thewlis, Hannah Dodd, Abbie Hern, Gabriel Tierney, and Serrana Su-Ling Bliss, also join the cast in this sequel.
Apparently, Thewlis will portray a corrupt police officer, while Duncan-Brewster will be a mysterious figure with ties to the crime that Enola is looking into, as reported by EW. To now, that is pretty much all we have learned about the new cast members.
