Strays Release Date

Strays will be released in theatres on June 9, 2023, which is in the midst of summer and an excellent time to watch a movie. Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, the seventh installment in Paramount’s hugely popular series, will be released at the same time as the new film.

When a major studio schedules a comedy for the summer, it typically signifies the studio feels confidence in the film, which seems to be the case with Strays and Universal. In a recent interview with Collider’s Steve Weintraub, director Josh Greenbaum discussed the film’s test screenings.

“Well, sure, our very first preview was exciting for me, the studio, and everyone watching since it tested really well, particularly for a first screening, but we also had complete clapping, hooting, and hollering at our conclusion. “Well, this is working,” I reflected. Extremely lively and motivating, and I’m sure it will continue. But it was a lot of fun, and we hadn’t done previews like this in a long time.”

Strays Deal With?

Strays is about a Border Terrier called Reggie who adores his owner Doug, despite the fact that Doug is a drunk, abusive, uncaring jerk who refuses to have anything to do with the adorable little dog. As Reggie is abandoned on the city’s streets, he joins up with a gang of feral dogs to avenge Doug by chewing off his penis.

According to the official description from Universal, “they say a dog is a man’s best friend,” but what if the guy is a terrible jerk? In such case, it could be time for some sweet payback, doggie style. Reggie (Will Ferrell), a naive, persistently optimistic Border Terrier, is abandoned on the tough city streets by his lowlife owner, Doug (Will Forte; The Last Man on Earth, Nebraska), and Reggie is adamant that his devoted owner would never desert him on purpose.

Reggie discovers he was in a poisonous relationship when he meets Bug (Oscar® winner Jamie Foxx), a fast-talking, foul-mouthed Boston Terrier who enjoys his independence and feels that owners are for fools.

Reggie, Bug, and Bug’s pals—Maggie (Isla Fisher; Now You See Me, Wedding Crashers), a smart Australian Shepherd who has been sidelined by her owner’s new puppy, and Hunter (Randall Park; Always Be My Maybe, Aquaman), an anxious Great Dane who is stressed out by his work as an emotional support animal—hatch a plan and embark on an epic adventure to help Reggie find his way home… then make Doug pay by chewing off the appendage he loves the most.

Strays Trailer And Teaser

On February 8, 2023, Universal Pictures published the first official trailer for Strays. In addition to Aditya Sood (Cocaine Bear), Erik Feig (Cha Cha Real Smooth), and Louis Leterrier, Phil Lord and Chris Miller, famed for the Jump Street films, The Lego Movie, and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, serve as producers on the picture (Fast X).
