Joe Barton is the mind behind Netflix’s fantasy drama The Bastard Son & The Devil Himself. Half Bad is a Young Adult novel by Sally Green, and the TV show is based on it. It tells the story of Nathan Byrne, the son of a dangerous witch named Marcus Edge, and his friends as they try to keep him from taking his father’s path and help him discover who he really is.

The Bastard Son & the Devil Himself Season 2 Happen Or Not?

The renewal of the show for a second season by Netflix is still up in the air, despite our belief that it is about as likely as a coin flip. With its low ratings, we expected the show to be canceled. However, since it is made by Netflix UK, cancellation may be less likely. In either scenario, the best way to ensure the show’s renewal is to bring it to a close.

The actors assured RadioTimes that there is “much to explore” in season two. Jay Lycurgo argued that they should continue the show for The Bastard Son & The Devil Himself Season 2 by saying, “We’re in a very amazing spot in a world where we’ve only looked at a small percentage of it.” There’s still a lot more to learn.

When may we expect The Bastard Son & The Devil Himself to be made available to the public?

Netflix typically doesn’t reveal the renewal status of a new season until a few weeks into it. By the end of the month of November, though, we should have a better notion of the show’s future.

Season two of The Bastard Son & The Devil Himself, assuming it gets renewed, is expected to premiere in the winter of 2023, however it could be delayed until the first quarter of 2024. The fate of the situation hinges on the timely arrival of the renewal notification.

The Bastard Son & the Devil Himself Season 1 Finale Or Ending

After receiving a phone call from Jessica, now known as Soul, Ceelia and Annalise decided to visit the town. Annalise mistook Jessica’s use of her abilities for her father’s because she equated them with him. Annalise foolishly believed that by talking to her father, she could convince him to change his mind.

Since she was Soul’s daughter, she knew he would never put her in danger by sending her to the front lines. Not only did she realise that Annalise was Marcus’ only hope, she also realised that she was unable to do anything about it. The term “decimation” was used to describe Annalise’s abilities. That gave her the ability to completely demolish or smash whomever she wanted.

Strangely, no one in her family had ever shown signs of possessing such potentially lethal skills. Strengths were hereditary in nature. Their parents presented them with it as a gift. In addition to Ceelia and Annalise, Nathan arrived to meet them. After escaping Mercury’s home, Gabriel likewise headed straight to Wolfhagen. Nicky and Hugo, two of Gabriel’s buddies, also travelled to Wolfhagen for the purpose of killing Nathan.

They had faith in the prophecy and expected Nathan to kill his dad in the end. Nathan was not going to do that, and they didn’t know it, so they assumed he was an enemy.

The Bastard Son & the Devil Himself Season 2 Cast And Main Lead

It’s safe to presume that Jay Lycurgo (Titans) will reprise his role as Nathan Byrn in season two of The Bastard Son & The Devil Himself. The question is, though, who else will be present. You can count on seeing most of the following:

Isobel Jesper Jones as Jessica Byrn; Nadia Parkes as Annalise O’Brien; Emilien Vekemans as Gabriel

Roisin Murphy as Mercury and David Gyasi as Marcus Edge

As a result of the events of the first season, it’s unlikely that we’ll see Karen Connell as Ceelia or Paul Ready as Soul return. We wouldn’t write them off just yet, what with all the magic and potential for flashbacks.

The sitcom is well-liked by its viewers, earning a 7.6/10 rating on IMDb and a 92% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Critics and moviegoers both praised The Bastard Son & The Devil Himself. Rotten Tomatoes, a website that compiles reviews from multiple sources, has given the film an average score of 8.2 out of 10. Sam Moore of Radio Times rated the show 3 stars out of 5, complimenting the “snappy language” and “excellent performances” of the casts but criticising the “uneven” tone.  Decider’s Joel Keller shared these concerns, calling it “a standard teen-drama” and praised the cast’s performances, especially those of Nadia Parkes.

The Bastard Son & the Devil Himself Season 2 Latest Updates

The Bastard Son & The Devil Himself is no longer the title of Netflix’s original fantasy drama that premiered three weeks ago.

One fan tweeted about the new title for the Joe Barton-created series, Half Bad: The Bastard Son & The Devil Himself.

The show’s new name pays homage to the source material, Half Bad, a novel written for young adults by Sally Green.

On October 28th, Jay Lycurgo’s The Bastard Son & The Devil Himself debuted on the streamer. Nathan Byrne, played by Lycurgo, is a teenager who finds himself the illegitimate son of the world’s most dangerous blood witch in a London overrun by witches.

While on the run from the fight between Blood Witches and Fairborn Witches, Nathan encounters Annalise O’Brien (Nadia Parkes) and Gabriel (Emilien Vekemans), both witches.

In an exclusive interview, Barton, who adapted the novel for the screen, said that the original name of the show was chosen from “a large list of alternative titles.”

We had some bad ones, like ‘Son of a Witch’ and ‘Bad Lad,'” Barton admitted. “When I initially saw [the ultimate title] on the list, I thought it was too long and too strange to use, but eventually, it stuck with us. It was taken from the pilot episode and placed there since it was a piece of conversation.”

However, Lycurgo has hinted that there is “more to explore” in a potential follow-up, saying, “My point with a season 2 is that we’re in a really amazing spot in an universe where we’ve only looked at a small portion of it.” Netflix has not yet announced if Half Bad will return for The Bastard Son & The Devil Himself Season 2.

The Bastard Son & the Devil Himself Season 2 Netflix Progress

After two weeks and 44.72M hours viewed on Netflix worldwide, the show fell out of the top 10 ranks.

However, we do know that its viewership dropped to below 18.17M, or approximately 60%, in week 3. We’ve mentioned before that a 50% drop from week 2 to week 3 usually spells doom for a show.

It appears that India, Brazil, and Germany are the locations where the title is gaining the most traction, according to the raw top 10s provided by FlixPatrol.

According to their research, the show’s popularity peaked quite quickly (after only 4 days), and now, about 20 days later, it has all but vanished from the top 10s.

The title only lasted 13 days in the top 10 in the UK, the show’s home nation, before it was removed.

The Bastard Son & the Devil Himself Season 2 Expectations

Of course, there’s a lot of canon to get through, but the show’s been taking a different path than the books. Joe Barton has verified this, saying the TV show is more of a spiritual adaptation. There are a total of three volumes, plus an accompanying novella.

So, here’s a summary of what went on in Half Wild, the sequel, and it looks like our Nathan is in a pretty similar situation:
