The Equalizer 2 Recap
In Boston, Robert McCall is a resident. He works as a Lyft driver and helps the needy with Susan Plummer, a former DIA coworker. To save Grace Braelick, 9, McCall sets off for Istanbul to rescue her from her Turkish father. While searching for his sister’s painting with Sam Rubinstein (an old Holocaust survivor), The patio of McCall’s apartment building has been trashed.
In response to an offer from Miles Whittaker, he agrees to have a mural painted on the walls. Former DIA officer Dave York works with Susan and McCall on a murder-suicide investigation in Brussels. Susan’s hotel room is looted and slain by a robber.
The murder-suicide was orchestrated, according to McCall. York is given McCall’s report by the CIA. McCall is attacked by an assassin disguised as a Lyft passenger. McCall shoots the victim and then steals his phone off the body. After noticing his phone number on York’s call list, he goes to York’s house and confronts him. Because he believes Susan would have found out he was behind the Brussels crimes, York turns out to be a mercenary after feeling betrayed by his nation.
Kovac, Ari, and Resnik are waiting for McCall outside York’s apartment. As McCall prepares to leave, he promises to annihilate the team. After assisting Resnik and Ari in their failed assassination attempt on Susan’s husband Brian, McCall helps them escape. York and Kovac break into McCall’s painting studio.” Miles is taken to a secret tunnel via webcam by McCall. Miles is captured after he emerges from hiding and unlocks the door to his apartment.
York makes the deduction that McCall has returned to his beachside hometown, which has been evacuated. Ari and Resnik are on their way to the city with Kovac and Ari while York scales the turret. Kovac is harpooned by McCall in a fishing shop.
At the beach, Ari discovers photographs of Susan, and McCall proceeds to brutally butcher him. A stun grenade-triggered flour explosion kills Resnik as McCall enters his late wife’s bakery to attract him. McCall emerges from York’s trunk after the latter shoots at it to indicate he’s hiding Miles there. York is killed by McCall in the tower.
McCall is able to track down his sister thanks to Susan’s knowledge of Sam’s painting. After completing the brick wall painting project at his apartment complex, Miles heads back to school. McCall’s former home overlooks the ocean.
Conclusion
In the end, this is a must-see if you like Denzel Washington or the first equaliser. The plot, characters, and action moments all lived up to the hype. Yes, the first one was undoubtedly superior, but this one is a solid follow-up that’s a blast to watch. It would be wonderful if the trilogy could be completed with The Equalizer 3 shortly.
