The film’s script was worked on by more than just Charles Shyer and Richard Paul Evans. David Golden and Rebecca Connor contributed to it as well. On November 24th, 2022, the film will debut on the streaming service.
The Noel Diary What’s It About?
Returning home for the holidays to settle his mother’s inheritance, acclaimed author Jake Turner (Justin Hartley) discovers a diary that may reveal answers about his history and that of Rachel (Barrett Doss), an intriguing young woman on her own journey. They embark on a journey together to confront their individual histories and uncover their unforeseen shared futures.
The Noel Diary Director
The Netflix original series “The Noel Diary” will reportedly be led by seasoned creator and director Charles Shyer. As a director, Shyer has helmed several blockbusters before, including “Father of the Bride,” “Alfie,” and “Private Benjamin,” and he has written a tonne more.
Writer/director Charles Shyer collaborated on the script with first-time screenwriter Rebecca Connor and veteran Hollywood writer David Golden (“Dangerous Lies”). Timothy O. Johnson, who has produced over 200 films, is responsible for this one. His resume includes holiday-themed features like “Dear Santa” and “Holiday Engagement.” The cast also includes Stephanie Slack, executive producers Hartley Stephens and Norman Stephens, and director Margret Huddleston (whose previous work includes “Love in the Villa” and “Love, Guaranteed” for Netflix).
With such a seasoned cast and crew at the helm, this cheery film is guaranteed to be a favourite with audiences this winter.
The Noel Diary Ratings
The vast majority of films released around the holiday season are appropriate for all ages. This is not always the case, though, so double checking is a good idea. Parents will be relieved to know that “The Noel Diary” has been given a “PG” rating, which indicates that some caution is advised. The film is labelled as “charming,” “heartfelt,” and “feel-good” by Netflix, suggesting a nice ending and that young viewers won’t be too disturbed.
There is considerable romantic subtext in “The Noel Diary” because it is both a romance and a Christmas film. In spite of this, the movie’s rating suggests that there will be no inappropriate depictions of relationships and instead only benign hand-holding and the like.
It would appear that “The Noel Diary” is another another possibility for Christmas movies to watch with kids over a cup of hot chocolate as we get ready for the holiday season.
The Noel Diary Latest Updates
The Noel Diary is just one of many upcoming holiday-themed films available on Netflix this year. It follows the similarly anticipated releases of other holiday films like Falling for Christmas and Christmas with You.
Justin Hartley, from This Is Us, plays Jake Turner, while Barrett Doss plays Rachel. James Remar, Bonnie Bedelia (in the role of Eleanor Foster), and Essence Atkins round out the cast. Charles Shyer is in charge of directing this production.
Being Hartley’s first significant role since the hit NBC series in which he played Kevin Pearson for six seasons, we can’t wait to see him portray this new character. This is his second feature for Netflix; his first was Senior Year, in which he also co-starred with Rebel Wilson.
The film is based on Richard Paul Evan’s novel of the same name. In fact, it’s a continuation of a series. Additionally, there are three more sequels to choose from: The Noel Stranger, Noel Street, and The Noel Letters. If this production is successful, then perhaps there will be others in the future.
